As part of our environmental stewardship, we participate in business activities and opportunities geared towards sustainability, especially in the energy sector. In this section, EVENUS Africa participated in the Third Edition Total Energy Start-Up challenge to showcase our business model based on environmental sustainability.
In this Startup Challenge, a remarkable 32 African countries participated, showcasing their need for sustainable energy options for the communities through startups and young entrepreneurship programmes with either established startups (less than three years old) or innovative business ideas. Each category had its own prize and an additional award for the best female entrepreneur.
The winners received financial backing, increased media visibility, and tailored coaching to help them advance their projects. This year, winners were selected based on their alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals outlined by the United Nations, their innovative approach, and the feasibility of their projects in the years ahead.
EVENUS Africa, a renewable energy initiative, was among the top 15 finalists. We proposed the Smart Biogas Digestor, and it is now engaged in a three-month mentorship and coaching program designed to elevate its project to the next stage of development and scaling.
The projects are still ongoing in the rural Webuye community, and plans are underway to expand them to the outskirts of Buingoma and Trans Nzoia counties in the western part of Kenya.
